Case Study: Young Cricket Collective Welcome Packs
Client
England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) – Young Cricket Collective
Project Overview
The Young Cricket Collective is a national ECB initiative designed to inspire and support young volunteers aged 14–18, helping them develop valuable skills while shaping the future of cricket within their local communities.
Lami Sports & Events was appointed to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for the programme's national welcome packs, providing a seamless ordering, payment, fulfilment and delivery system for County Cricket Boards across England and Wales.

The Challenge
The ECB required a scalable solution that would allow County Cricket Boards nationwide to order high-quality branded welcome packs for their young volunteers.
Each welcome pack needed to include:
- Branded ¼ zip tracksuit top
- Branded tracksuit bottoms
- Branded bucket hat
- Branded notebook
- Branded pen
The project presented several key challenges:
- Products needed to be cost-effective whilst maintaining a premium feel and quality.
- A wide range of sizes had to be available to accommodate volunteers aged 14–18.
- County Cricket Boards needed the ability to place and pay for orders independently.
- Orders had to be fulfilled and delivered within three working days.
- The solution needed to be low-touch and highly automated.
- All products had to meet stringent compliance requirements, including REACH Annex XVII and associated product safety standards.
The Lami Sports Solution
Lami Sports designed and implemented a fully integrated national ordering and fulfilment platform.
Bespoke Ordering Payment Portal
We created a dedicated online ordering portal that enabled County Cricket Boards to:
- Select required quantities and sizes
- Make secure online payments
- Manage orders efficiently
- Provide delivery details directly through the platform
The portal was built to provide a simple user experience whilst integrating seamlessly with our fulfilment systems.
Smart Warehouse Integration
The ordering platform was connected directly to the Lami Sports Smart Warehouse, creating a streamlined fulfilment process with minimal manual intervention.
Once an order was placed:
- Payment was processed automatically.
- Warehouse picking instructions were generated instantly.
- Products were picked, packed and quality checked.
- Orders were dispatched for delivery within three working days.
This low-touch process ensured accuracy, speed and consistency across the programme.
Product Development & Compliance
Working closely with our manufacturing partners, Lami Sports sourced and developed a range of products that balanced quality, durability and value. Compliance was a critical requirement of the project.
To provide complete confidence to the ECB and participating counties, Lami Sports:
- Ensured all products complied with REACH Annex XVII requirements and associated regulations.
- Worked directly with manufacturing partners throughout the production process.
- Had a member of the Lami Sports team present at the factory while testing and compliance checks were being undertaken.
- Conducted extensive quality assurance and product verification before production sign-off.
System Testing
Before launch, every aspect of the project was rigorously tested.
Lami Sports carried out:
- Full backend platform testing
- Warehouse process testing
- Payment system verification
- End-to-end fulfilment testing
To ensure complete confidence in the process, ten live test orders were placed and fulfilled through the system prior to rollout, allowing the team to validate every touchpoint from order placement through to delivery.
Results
The project successfully delivered a scalable national solution for the ECB and County Cricket Boards resulting in a new keen cohort of Young Volunteers.
Key Outcomes
- National ordering platform launched successfully with a massive up take in volunteers recruited
- Fully integrated warehouse and fulfilment solution implemented.
- Orders consistently dispatched well within the required delivery window SLA.
- Highest compliance standards achieved across all products.
- Positive feedback received from both the ECB and County Cricket Boards.
- Thousands of young volunteers provided with high-quality welcome packs.
Most importantly, the programme helped equip young volunteers with the resources they needed to engage with cricket and develop valuable life skills through volunteering.
The ECB and participating counties were delighted with the outcome, while the volunteers themselves responded positively to receiving professional, high-quality branded apparel and welcome materials that helped them feel part of the Young Cricket Collective community from day one.
Client Impact
By combining product sourcing, compliance management, e-commerce, payment processing, warehousing and fulfilment into one seamless solution, Lami Sports created a programme that was cost efficient, scalable and easy to manage.
The result was a fully automated national delivery model that allows the Young Cricket Collective to focus on what matters most — supporting and developing the next generation of volunteers who will help shape the future of cricket.
